US Q4 GDP growth revised lower to 3.2% from 3.3%

In the second estimate released on Wednesday, the United States’ Gross Domestic Product (GDP) expanded at an annual rate of 3.2% for the fourth quarter, according to the US Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). The initial advanced estimate had reported a slightly higher real GDP growth of 3.3%.

The BEA clarified in its press release that the revision was primarily influenced by a downward adjustment in private inventory investment, partially counterbalanced by upward revisions to state and local government spending, as well as consumer spending.

Market reaction

Following the initial reaction, the US Dollar Index (DXY) experienced a marginal dip and is currently showing a 0.26% gain for the day, reaching 104.07.
